Random Distractions

I love the snow, as long as I get to stay home to enjoy it. The idea of all those bugs out their dying thrills my soul. I took a few pictures, but yesterday while it was snowing big fluffy flakes, I didn't even think to take pictures. This was my first big snowfall in ... years.

Today was the first day in 3 weeks that Cari and I missed our exercise date and I'm excited to say that it was for a good reason! The bad driving conditions kept us home from the Y. 3 weeks! We're going on a month! I'm so proud of us :)

I am about to subscribe to President Obama's podcast. Did you know he has a podcast?? Isn't that incredibly awesome and exciting!? I feel like we're having the modern fireside chats. I <3 my president and it feels so good to say that.

I've been lazy the last few days, not using my time productively, so this morning I finished reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret and I wrote my paper for class. Now I just need to write my paper for the other two books I've read. It's so easy to read and read and read, I just hate writing the papers. I'm sure that's backwards from other people in the class, but the reading is the easy part!

So, on top of the 5 Newberry's and 10 Caldecott's, plus the 6 books we will read in class, I will need to read an additional 24 Children's Books. Any suggestions?

I feel so bad that I'll miss tomorrow at the Y! *sigh* I hate the Plague...

As for reading, the Septimus Heap books are really good. And Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book just won the Newbery. Also Safie's Angel. All so good.

I second that you read (though listening might be better because the British accent is great!) the Saffy's Angel series. Not sure if you like historical fiction, but the Gloria Whelan books are really good. I'd recommend Homeless Bird. I'm also a sucker for adventure, so Gary Paulsen's Hatchet or Jason's Gold by Will Hobbs are both great! Plus, I know that you really enjoyed Graceling and The Hunger Games, so I will also recommend Trickster's Choice or really any Tamora Pierce book. Such great strong girl characters! Happy Reading!
