These past few weeks started out nice, but I feel like I've run out of things to do. I am one of those people who thrives in busy, stressful situations. When I have nothing pressing to do, I start to feel like a zombie. Speaking of zombies, I really dislike zombie games, and that is all I will say about that.
New year's eve was uneventful. I stayed at home and watched TV/movies with Josh. We missed the ball dropping in Time Square because we forgot that they show it live and therefore, the ball drops an hour early. How lame for us. We were playing my new favorite game that I got for Christmas, Cranium (the new edition) and Josh discovered that I had never watched the Matrix, so we had to watch it. It's one of his favorites.
This year was our first Christmas as a married couple, so we went out and purchased an ornament. That's been one of our traditions, something that neither of us did before. Every year we've been together on Christmas, we go out and purchase an ornament for our tree. We currently have three ornaments :) plus my Texas flag ornament because I'm a sentimental Texan who misses her state :P But anyway, we found this cute ornament with a bride and groom and we had them write our names and the year on the ornament. It was hard to find one we both liked!
We spent Christmas eve with Josh's maternal family. Christmas eve is his grandmother's birthday, so that is why the family always gets together. It's been three years since I first started attending, so I'm more comfortable now. Christmas eve Josh and I exchanged pajama's, which is a tradition that I'm bringing in from my family. That is one of my favorite parts of christmas. It took me awhile before I realized that we got pajamas on Christmas eve. I remember one Christmas, my brothers and I begged and begged to open just one present before we went to bed, and my mother said yes (as always) but this year, we could pick our own gifts out. *SHOCK* So, I searched under the whole tree and picked out the biggest box I could find. Lo and behold, they were pajamas. LOL parents are so clever.
Anyway, so I made Josh batman pajamas! Really, I only made bottoms, not quite ready to tackle more complicated pieces. So I found the soft fleece material in Wal Mart with the batman design. Josh was so excited when he pulled them out, the first thing he said was "How did you find giant batman pajamas!??" hehehe
Christmas day we spent with Josh's parents. His dad always makes a full Christmas dinner, and it is always delicious.
San Antonio, since I haven't really talked about it yet, was fantastic. I got to spend time with my little brother, my granny, and my mom. Justin graduated from basic training, and although I missed seeing the actual graduation, I did get to spend the weekend with him and see him in uniform. We also had a family picture taken in front of the flag, as soon as my mom uploads that I will share it with you. We spent one day at Sea World, and they were having some Thank You Military day sort of thing, so Justin went in for free along with three guests (us) so it was all free! I highly highly recommend Sea World anytime you have the opportunity. It was super amazing. We pet and fed dolphins, fed sea lions, fed coy fish (is that spelled right?), saw Shamoo, a crazy awesome dolphin show called Viva which included these awesome acrobats, synchronized swimmers, and divers, we saw a penguin exhibit and, the highlight for me, a crocodile in a lake with a family of turtles on his head!! AAH! It was hillarious.
While in San Antonio, we also went to the Alamo. I have been before, but it was still really nice to visit. It's sort of like, the Texan pilgrimage location. If you're a true Texan, you must go at least once. If you are ever in the near vicinity of the Alamo, you also must go see it. It's like a law ;) but not really.
So, to sum things up, I have really enjoyed the last several weeks, but I think I'm ready for something eventful. I am dreading school! But after this semester, my undergraduate days will be over. WOO! I am really looking forward to working out at the Y with Cari, which I think we are starting tomorrow! Yay for getting fit and having accountability!
